Our Mission

Diamonds That Do Better.

Diyona was built on a simple idea. A diamond can be brilliant, lasting, and meaningful without a chain of harm behind it. Every ring we make is lab grown, handcrafted in the U.S., and earns its keep by giving back.

Lab Grown, Always

Never mined, never sourced from conflict regions

Handcrafted in the U.S.

Made and inspected at our U.S. studio

5% Pledged Back

Of net proceeds, to women and children in mining regions

What We Believe

Beauty should never be built on suffering. For more than a century, the diamond trade left a long shadow across the communities that mined it, from Sierra Leone and Angola to India’s Gujarat region. We started Diyona because the way diamonds got made didn’t have to be the way diamonds get made now. Every stone we sell is grown in a lab, every ring is made in the U.S., and a meaningful share of every sale is set aside to do good in the places the old trade hurt most.

A Different Way to Make a Diamond Ring

For most of the last century, the way a diamond was sourced, priced, and sold went unquestioned. We rebuilt every step of it.

The Old Way

  • Mined from the earth, often in regions where the cost wasn’t the dollar amount on the receipt
  • Communities uprooted, rivers and farmland damaged, children pulled from school
  • Sourced through long chains where origin and ethics quickly got murky
  • Priced with heavy retail markups for inherited prestige, not real value
  • Sold once. After the sale, you were on your own.

This isn’t the whole story of the diamond industry, but it is a real part of it. The trade hurt the communities it relied on most.

The Diyona Way

  • Grown in a lab. Same chemistry, same optical properties, none of the mining harm.
  • Handcrafted by skilled artisans in our U.S. studio, inspected before it ships
  • Sold directly to you. No long retail chain, no markup for the name on the box.
  • 5% of net proceeds set aside for women and children in the regions the old trade left behind
  • Backed for life: free manufacturing warranty, free shipping on every repair

Every Diyona ring is on this side of the line. We don’t sell mined stones, ever.

One note

A lab-grown diamond is a real diamond. Identical chemistry, identical hardness, identical sparkle. The only difference is what it took to get it into the ring.

How Your Ring Gives Back

The path from your purchase to a real program on the ground is short, and we keep it that way on purpose.

01

You Choose Your Ring

A lab-grown center stone, handcrafted in our U.S. studio. Made to order, made to last, sold directly so the price reflects the ring and not a chain of markups.

02

5% Goes to the Pledge

For every sale, we set aside 5% of net proceeds. Not a one-time campaign, not a holiday promise, but a standing line item on every order we’ve ever shipped.

03

It Funds the Programs Below

That pool funds work in South Asia and Africa, in the regions the historic diamond trade hit hardest. Education, economic mobility, clean water, and skill-building for women and girls.

Why Lab Grown

A Real Diamond, Without the Cost That Came With It.

A lab-grown diamond is a diamond. It’s grown from the same carbon, under the same kind of heat and pressure that built the stones underground. Chemists, gemologists, and the international grading labs that certify both kinds all agree: there is no optical, structural, or chemical difference between a lab-grown stone and a mined one. The only difference is what happened upstream.

What happened upstream, for most of the last hundred years, was hard on the people closest to the work. Villages in Sierra Leone and Angola were uprooted to clear ground for open-pit mines. Rivers were dredged and farmland made unusable. In India’s Gujarat region, the cutting and polishing economy pulled children out of school and locked women out of safe, fairly paid work. None of this is ancient history. A lot of it is still happening.

What lab grown changes

  • No open-pit mining. No dredged rivers. No displaced communities.
  • Same brilliance and hardness as a mined stone, certified to the same grading scales by IGI.
  • Made on a scale of weeks, not millions of years, which means a far lower price for the same look.
  • That price difference is what frees up the 5% we send back to the regions that paid the original bill.

We didn’t invent lab-grown diamonds. What we did was decide we wouldn’t sell anything else, and that the savings should travel somewhere meaningful.

Both lab-grown and mined diamonds are graded against the same 4Cs scales, and the major labs (IGI, GIA) certify both. Diyona’s diamonds are IGI-graded by default. We don’t use the phrase “conflict-free” as a hedge: every Diyona stone is lab grown, so the question of mining conflict simply doesn’t apply.

Where the 5% Goes

The pledge funds four kinds of work, all of it focused on women and children in the communities the historic diamond trade affected most. We partner with established nonprofits already operating on the ground, rather than spinning up a foundation of our own.

01

Education

Girls back in school.

Funding tuition, uniforms, and supplies for girls in rural Africa whose families couldn’t otherwise afford to keep them enrolled.

02

Economic Mobility

Micro-loans for women.

Small, low-interest loans for women in South Asia starting their own businesses, with on-the-ground partners running the lending.

03

Clean Water

Wells in mining-hit villages.

Rebuilding the basic infrastructure that mining runoff broke. Safe drinking water first, then everything else that gets harder without it.

04

Vocational Training

Pathways into safer work.

Skill-building programs that open doors to better-paid careers outside the cutting and polishing workshops the old trade relied on.

Common Questions

What People Ask

What exactly does “5% of net proceeds” mean?
Net proceeds is the dollar amount left after the cost of the ring itself: the diamond, the gold, the labor, the shipping. We pledge 5% of that figure on every order, every year. We use net rather than gross because gross includes the cost of the materials, and pledging from that doesn’t leave room for the programs to actually run. It’s a smaller-sounding percentage of a more honest number.
Which charities does Diyona donate to?
We work with established nonprofits already operating on the ground in South Asia and Africa, rather than running a foundation of our own. We’d rather route money to people doing the work than build new overhead. We don’t list the partner organizations on this page yet because the list shifts as we learn what’s working, and we don’t want to put a logo here that we might not still be funding next year. Email care@diyona.com and we’ll send you the current list.
Is a lab-grown diamond actually a real diamond?
Yes. A lab-grown diamond is chemically, physically, and optically identical to a mined diamond. Same carbon, same crystal structure, same hardness, same sparkle. International grading labs like IGI and GIA certify both, against the same 4Cs scales. The difference is that one comes out of a controlled facility over a few weeks, and one comes out of the earth over a few million years.
How is lab grown better for the communities you support?
Because the harm those communities saw came from how diamonds were extracted, not from what diamonds are. Lab-grown diamonds don’t require open-pit mines, dredged rivers, or cutting and polishing workshops staffed by underpaid labor. They take that supply chain out of the equation entirely. The 5% pledge is then how we participate in repairing some of the damage already done.
Where are Diyona rings made?
Every Diyona piece is handcrafted by skilled artisans at our U.S. studio and inspected before it ships. Repairs and resizing are handled at our U.S. repair facility too. Nothing is outsourced overseas, and nothing about the ring travels through the regions our pledge is trying to help.
What metals do you use?
Solid 14k yellow, white, or rose gold, depending on the style. Not plated, not filled, not vermeil. Our metals come from established U.S. refiners with documented supply chains, and we apply the same lab-grown-only standard to side stones as we do to the center.
Can I see how much has actually been donated?
A public impact report is the right next step, and it’s on our roadmap. Until that’s out, we’re happy to share donation figures directly with anyone who asks. The 5% line item is in our books on every order, and we’re not shy about it.
