Behind The Craft
The Process
Your ring doesn’t exist until you order it. Here is every step it goes through, from a 3D design to the finished ring in your hand.
Made To Order, One At A Time
Most engagement rings sit in a case, waiting for a buyer. Yours is different. When you place your order, your ring is built from scratch, by hand, just for you. The whole process takes about 15 business days. Here is what happens along the way.
01
Stage 01 · Design To Metal
From A 3D Model To Solid Metal
Every ring begins as a 3D model, drawn in detail on a computer to fit the exact diamond you chose. That model is printed in wax, then sealed in plaster and melted away to leave a hollow mold. Molten gold or platinum is poured in, and when it cools, your ring exists in metal for the first time.
02
Stage 02 · Casting Cleaning
Cleaned Up From The Cast
Fresh out of the mold, the ring is cut from the channels the metal flowed through, and the rough marks left by casting are filed and cleaned away by hand.
03
Stage 03 · Tumbling
Tumbled To Harden And Smooth
The ring is tumbled with media that gently hardens the metal and evens out the whole surface, smoothing the form and giving it an early shine.
04
Stage 04 · Pre-Polish
Polished Before The Stones Go In
The ring is polished now, while it is still open, so the jeweler can reach the tight areas right under where the diamonds will sit. Once the stones are set, those spots can’t be reached again.
05
Stage 05 · Setting
Set By A Diamond Setter
A setter places your center diamond and any accent stones by hand, working each prong to hold every stone secure, level, and straight. This is the most skilled step of all.
06
Stage 06 · Post-Polish
Polished Again, With The Stones In
With the diamonds set, the ring gets a final polish across every surface you can see, bringing the whole piece up to a bright, even finish.
07
Stage 07 · Plating & Engraving
Plated And Engraved
White gold rings are plated with rhodium, a bright white metal that gives white gold its crisp, mirror-white look. Yellow gold, rose gold, and platinum skip this. Then any engraving you asked for is added inside the band, in your words.
08
Stage 08 · Final QC
Checked One Last Time
Before it ships, every ring is inspected closely. Stones are checked for security, proportions against your design, and the finish for any flaw. Only then does it leave for you.
Why It’s Made This Way
Made to order means nothing is mass-produced and nothing sits in a warehouse. Every ring is built for one person, then stood behind for life.
How it’s built
